Excellent sushi quality. I really enjoy how well they package their sushi when I order to go. Reminds me of Tokyo. Quality and flavor of sushi -- very on point! Fast expedient service!

A real authentic sushi restaurant! All my favorites are fresh and perfectly prepared (Salmon Nigri, salmon roe, yellowtail, tuna), but the real gem of this place is in their rotating specials. Every time I come, they've got something new and delicious on the specials board. Today we had live scallop, which was just so light and fresh, and the sweet live shrimp was as delicious as it was gorgeous! The staff is incredibly attentive, and really helpful if you're ever overwhelmed or unsure what to order. Need to take someone out for good sushi in the valley? Take them here; they'll definitely be impressed!

The quality of fish here is amazing. It's been a while since I dined here. I came to dinner with my sister and cousins and had a lovely time. Great service and great sushi. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The sea trout was amazing, the scallops melt in your mouth. The yellowtail hand roll stole my heart and the crispy rice tuna was addictingly good. The ambiance is ok, dated restaurant with old furniture but who cares I'm here for the sushi. It's clean and organized. If you are looking for amazing sushi look no further. Stop by and check them out.

My son treated me to dinner at Mutsumi this past weekend and I was blown away! I love sushi, but I am very picky. I usually avoid nigiri because I prefer the rolls. I used to think that nigiri was flavorless. Not here! I selected a few rolls (Cajun Deluxe Roll and Chatsworth Roll were my favorites) and my son chose some nigiri. Then, my son suggested were share everything. I was not looking forward to the nigiri, but like I said, I was blown away. The sushi chefs at Mutsumi packed so much flavor into their nigiri sushi. I found myself analyzing the tastes as if I was making a judgment on a fine glass of wine. The flavors were so distinct and delicious. We ate past the point of fullness because the food was so good. We topped our meal off with some delicious tempura ice cream. It was a perfect meal! The parking was plentiful even though this gem of a restaurant was tucked away in a strip mall. The hostess and waitress were so amazing as well. The waitress was there when needed and kept my glass of iced green tea full. She also offered some great suggestions on what to order. Even though she made herself available, she did not hover. I like that. The restaurant was well lit and I was able to clearly see the beautiful food (as evidenced in the photos attached). I love that even though there were many other patrons, I was still able to carry on a conversation and hear my son. I am older and really hate going to restaurants where I can't hear my companions. I loved being able to enjoy both delicious food and great conversation. I look forward to future meals at Mutsumi.

I had the opportunity to take my mom to Mutsumi last Sunday, as it's a local place that I enjoy, and the service and food were excellent as usual! The restaurant had a cozy ambiance when we walked in and the hostess sat us immediately, as a server came up to take our drink orders. They provided us with some menus and some time to decide what we wanted. As everything looked good, we were a little stumped with what to go with first. The hostess gave us some great recommendations, and we got to try some new things this time. Of particular excellence were the Cajun Deluxe Roll, Ahi, and King Mackerel. I loved the plating of each, with the added garnishes and toppings that gave every roll a little kick! The server was even helpful in pointing out which rolls already had soy sauce and/or wasabi and which rolls to dip ourselves. But even the simpler cuts such as the Salmon and Cajun Albacore had a lot of flavor packed into them. I could tell that the chefs took their time picking the best cuts and preparation. We finished the night off with some tempura ice cream, which was an "eyes-bigger-than-my-stomach" choice for sure, but still quite delicious! I'm glad to have gotten such a great dinner with my mom, and would definitely come back with friends, dates, etc. It's a decently-sized restaurant that's in an unassuming intersection which is perfect if I want to avoid larger crowds or traffic.

Fresh sushi, accompanied by knowledgeable chefs, friendly hosts, and waitresses create a welcoming atmosphere. The people you meet at the bar add to the enjoyment. The prices are excellent, making it a popular spot with no disappointments within the restaurant. Notably, it's very clean, and in the evenings, they usually have sports on.

Yum! We ordered our normal +2 things that I haven't had in a very long time...ebiten roll and the blue crab HR w/ soy paper and easy rice. Freakin' delicious! Love the food, sushi chefs, and staff here! But... Like I always say. It would be nice if the interior got an upgrade/remodel :-)

Mutsumi, still remains as a hidden gem sushi restaurant, on Devonshire in Chatsworth. Its location is in a cramped, small strip mall that contains 3 other encroaching businesses. Yes, parking in this small space, is like playing musical chairs. In spite of these hurdles, Mutsumi continues to have a loyal following of customers, me included. I always order the oysters dynamite to start. It never disappoints, always baked to perfection and oozing with flavor and taste. This time, the lunch combo with fried chicken and mixed tempura. Comes with salad and miso soup. All delivered harmoniously, not oily, nice and crisp, ready to dissolve on your taste buds. Rice is also has a fresh starchy taste, on every grain. Another lovely dining lunch experience.
